Ashwin Mallya (b. 1990) is an industrial designer and object maker who lives and works in Mumbai.
A native of Margao, Goa, his body of work is material-centric and driven by large-scale manufacturing processes.
He earned his Bachelor of Industrial Design (2009-13) from Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune and has been under the tutelage of Veena Chandran (Ceramic Artist, Pune), has worked under Subodh Kerkar (Visual & Installation Artist, Goa) and worked on Memoir Bar with Thukral & Tagra through his association with Bharat Floorings & Tiles. He’s been independently consulting and designing products for Asian Paints, Bharat Floorings & Tiles, whilst also developing his own series of objects.
Mallya designed and developed stainless steel objects for C&L Design, at 47-A Khotachi wadi, as part of This Ground, Plus: Khotachi Wadi in Design Context. This was his first showing as part of a group show. Curriculum is his first solo.
