Overview
This two-part retrospective is the largest exhibition of work by Nasreen Mohamedi to have been mounted since the 1991 show at Jehangir Art Gallery organised by the artist’s family.
Many of the works in the present show have never been exhibited before, and together they trace Nasreen’s career from her earliest figurative drawings of the early 1960s right through to the late drawings that marked her last years. Included also are original photographic prints that were developed by Nasreen herself.
The exhibition draws from works in the collection of the family of Nasreen, that is the Sikander family; the Dossal family; Navjot Altaf and Altaf. Without their kind support this exhibition would not have been possible.
