“Black Sun” is an attempt to understand the experiences of the diaspora. The curators explore their own identities to reflect on the idea of internal diaspora. The works displayed, therefore, explore conflicts of identity- but not merely external identity conflicts, but internal, personal ones as well. The idea of multiple identities within one person is brought out: a cultural identity crisis is never solely external; the multiplicities are expressed within individuals. The outcome was a polished show, with a book that came out later exploring the show theoretically.
