SUMMARY:Screening | Squeeze Lime in Your Eye
DESCRIPTION:SQUEEZE LIME IN YOUR EYE\nA film on Kausik Mukhopadhyay by Avijit Mukul Kishore. Associate Director: Rohan Shivkumar. \nWatch it exclusively on Chatterjee & Lal ‘s YouTube channel 26th November to 3rd December: \n‘Squeeze Lime in Your Eye’ is a documentary film about the inimitable artist Kausik Mukhopadhyay. His art works exist on the peculiar intersection of machine\, toy and organism. Made out of discarded and disassembled household gadgets\, they have distinct personalities and quirks. They are noisy\, humorous and fragile. They invite the viewer to engage and complete the narratives embedded within them. \nThis film builds on two decades of friendship between the artist Kausik Mukhopadhyay\, filmmaker Avijit Mukul Kishore and architect Rohan Shivkumar. It follows Mukhopadhyay’s journey as a student at Kalabhavana Santiniketan\, through his time as a fellow at Kanoria Centre for Art\, Ahmedabad\, to his practice as an artist and teacher in Mumbai. The film attempts to embody the form of Mukhopadhyay’s artworks\, built out of fragments of incongruous material and a repurposing of one’s own earlier work. What emerges is a tale as tender and quirky as the artist’s art works. \nEnglish and Hindi (with English subtitles)\, Colour\, 57 min\, 2018\nProduced by Public Service Broadcasting Trust
